: The objectives of this study are: 1) describing the role of the principal in fostering the spirit of supervision, 2) the constraints of supervision implementation, and 3) the solution in overcoming the obstacles of supervision implementation. This study used a qualitative approach with case study design. The research was conducted at the SMAK Santo Albertus Kota Malang, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. The selected informants were the school principal, vice principal, coordinator of the supervision team, teachers, and students. Data mining by interviewing, observing, and documenting. The result is that the principal as a supervisor plays an important role in the supervision process, especially in terms of how to foster enthusiasm for the supervised teachers, so that teachers feel comfortable and happy when the supervision process takes place in order to improve their performance which leads to improving the quality of education. Many obstacles occur that are internal and external. Internal constraints include supervisors and supervised teachers. One alternative solution is to inculcate the existence of encouragement from within the individual itself, namely how to arouse pleasure, and passion during the supervision process, this is termed the existence of “spirit or spirit of supervision”
