Abstract

Integrating receptive and productive skills into the classroom is pedagogically instrumental in achieving lesson objectives. This paper discusses how to implement teaching stages that cover receptive and productive skills in a reading class. The writers elaborate on the teaching stages, which include brainstorming, receptive priming, ordering activities, reading comprehension, productive extension, and cross-cultural reflection. We hope that English teachers find the teaching stages helpful in helping their students achieve the lesson objectives and eventually improve their overall English competence. Here, the lesson integrating both receptive and productive skills should be aligned with students' level and needs, so that they can improve their English competence more optimally.
